MODALS
We always use modals to convey (transmitir) a particular communicative intention (prohibition, advice, possibility, obligation…).
They have these features in common as far as structure in concerned:
1. always are followed by a bare infinitive (without to)
2. all the subjects use the same modals
3. negation is formed by using “not” after the modal and contracting if possible.
4. for questions we put the modals in front of the subject.
MODAL PERFECTS
The Modal Perfects always refer to past or completed actions. Ex.: “Residents should have evacuated the village before the tornado struck”
